Sanction Kennedy Agyapong —Pressure Builds on NPP Leadership

The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has described recent comments by former presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong as constituting anti-party behaviour under the party’s constitution.

His remarks follow public statements by Mr. Agyapong criticising the NPP’s inability to operationalise the Afari Military Hospital during its eight years in government.

The former Assin Central Member of Parliament also warned that he could “spill the beans” on alleged wrongdoing within the party if he continued to face attacks from certain party members.

The comments have triggered widespread debate among party faithful, with some members questioning whether Mr. Agyapong’s statements undermine party unity following the January 2026 presidential primaries.

The controversy has also prompted calls for disciplinary action, with some party members reportedly petitioning the leadership of the NPP to investigate the former lawmaker’s remarks.

Speaking on the matter, Mr. Ahiagbah argued that public comments capable of bringing the party into disrepute could amount to anti-party conduct under the NPP’s constitution.

He stressed the need for members to channel grievances through established internal mechanisms rather than airing them in public.

Supporters of Mr. Agyapong, however, insist that he is merely exercising his right to express concerns about the party’s direction and performance.

As pressure mounts on the party’s leadership to respond, political observers say the handling of the matter could have significant implications for party unity ahead of future elections.

Neither Mr. Agyapong nor his representatives have publicly responded to Mr. Ahiagbah’s latest comments.
