Internal War erupts in Ashanti NDC…over Youth Employment Positions

The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused top party officials of sidelining loyal campaigners in favour of politically connected allies in youth appointments

The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused top party officials of sidelining loyal campaigners in favour of politically connected allies in youth appointments.

At a press conference on Monday (9 June), the group said their sacrifices during the 2024 campaign have been ignored, with key positions instead given to individuals with “camp” affiliations.
“We campaigned without support, risking our safety and using our own resources. Now, we’re being cast aside for those who didn’t even show up,” a youth leader said.

They named Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene, former Youth Organiser George Opare-Addo, and party elder Betty Mould-Iddrisu as allegedly pushing their preferred candidates for roles in the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and National Youth Authority (NYA).
“This is mafia politics, not democracy,” the youth said. “We were promised positions, submitted our credentials, and suddenly the list was changed.”

The group is demanding the reversal of what they describe as “discriminatory appointments,” a public apology from party leadership, and non-interference in youth affairs.

They’ve given the party’s National Executive Committee one week to act or face “escalated action.”

“We stand for merit, not factional loyalty,” they added. “The youth will not be silenced.”

The accused officials have yet to respond to the allegations.
