…Promises Ideological Renewal, Stronger Party Structures and 2028 Election Victory
The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), , has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of First Vice National Chairman when the party opens nominations ahead of its national delegates’ conference.
Speaking at a press conference held at his private office on Tuesday, July 29, 2026, Mr Ahiagbah unveiled a seven-point leadership agenda, which he said would strengthen the party’s internal structures, deepen unity and discipline, and prepare the NPP for victory in the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the success of any political organisation depends not on individuals but on strong institutions, effective systems and a committed membership.
“Our party’s future lies in building enduring structures that will outlive personalities. Strong parties are not built around individuals but on robust systems and institutions,” he stated.
Mr Ahiagbah outlined seven key pillars that will underpin his leadership if elected:
Ideological Renewal – Renewing the NPP’s liberal conservative tradition.
Strengthening the Party – Building stronger organisational structures from the polling station to the national level.
Discipline and Unity – Promoting internal discipline to foster cohesion and alignment.
Member First – Ensuring every party member feels valued and actively involved in the party’s growth.
Road to Victory 2028 – Positioning the party early for a successful return to government in the 2028 elections.
Building a Lasting Legacy – Pursuing the establishment of permanent party offices across the country to strengthen institutional development.
Delegates Partnership – Providing responsive leadership that listens to delegates and acts on their concerns.
Mr Ahiagbah expressed confidence that the implementation of these seven strategic pillars would revitalise the NPP and position it to reclaim political power in 2028 under the leadership of the party’s 2028 presidential candidate, .
He further appealed to party delegates and members to support his vision of a united, disciplined and forward-looking NPP capable of delivering effective leadership for Ghana.
His declaration adds to the growing contest for key national executive positions within the party as it prepares to reorganise its leadership machinery ahead of the next general election.
Mr Ahiagbah concluded his address by reiterating his essage: “One Party, One Voice, One Direction.”.
