Atewa Matters Campaign Unveils Banner at JCS Investments Ltd Bus Stop on Spintex Road

On Monday 17th August, the Atewa Matters Campaign which is supported by Nature’s Heartbeat, unveiled a banner at the JCS Investments Ltd bus stop on Spintex Road to
raise awareness of the Atewa Matters campaign and petition posted at bit.ly/MakeAtewaNationalPark.

The campaign highlights the urgent need for Atewa Forest Reserve to be declared a National Park to give it greater protection. The once pristine Atewa Forest, which is a Globally Significant Biodiversity Area, was declared a Forest Reserve in 1926.
It is the source of the Birim, Ayensu and Densu rivers and the source of water to over 5 million Ghanaians.

Atewa Forest Resere is the habitat for endangered fauna and flora. Unfortunately it
is under seige from illegal and irresponsible miners, poachers and loggers who are destroying the Forest.

Eco-Conscious Citizens are thankful to JCS Investments for sponsoring the space at the Bus stop where the banner will help raise awareness of the Atewa Matters Campaign.

Eco-Conscious Citizens would like to take this opportunity to thank A Rocha Ghana and the funders of Atewa Matters.
