The silence is finally over. Kwami Sefa Kayi, affectionately known as the “Chairman General” and the undisputed “Golden Voice of the Morning,” is set to return to the airwaves on July 14 ,2025 after a prolonged absence from his iconic Kokrokoo morning show on Peace FM.

For decades, his voice became a daily ritual for millions of Ghanaians. From deep political analysis to lighthearted newspaper reviews, Kokrokoo became more than a show—it was a national institution. His departure left a noticeable void in Ghana’s morning routine, but that void is about to be filled once again.

With nearly three decades in broadcasting, Kwami Sefa Kayi has earned a towering reputation in Ghanaian journalism. He began his career humbly at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) from 1993 to 1995, before joining Radio Gold in 1996. In 2000, he moved to Peace FM, where his work has since become legendary.

Beyond his journalistic accomplishments—including winning Radio Morning Show Host of the Year and the coveted GJA Journalist of the Year—Sefa Kayi is also known for his philanthropic contributions. Through the Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, he has led a nationwide effort to donate incubators to health facilities across Ghana. The foundation has so far donated 62 out of a targeted 100 incubators, offering a lifeline to premature babies and under-resourced hospitals.

His upcoming return is being hailed as both a symbolic and practical restoration of a critical voice in Ghana’s democratic dialogue. Known for his calm yet incisive moderation, the Chairman General helped shape public discourse, holding leaders accountable and elevating citizen concerns.

For many listeners, his comeback represents more than nostalgia—it is a return to clarity, credibility, and connection.

“Your voice, a beacon that lit the morning sky,” one fan wrote in a poetic tribute circulating on social media. “Your return, a gift, we eagerly await.”

Indeed, Ghana is listening. And soon, Kwami Sefa Kayi will speak again.
