The Chief of Dunkwa , Dr Okofroburo Obeng Nuakoh II, has cautioned farmers against releasing their lands to illegal Miners as a result of the government Reduction on Cocoa Price.
According to him, the reduction on Cocoa Price by the government is course to worry every Farmer but that is not withstanding releasing the Farmlands to do illegal mining that could cause adverse danger to the lives of the citizens.
Speaking with the Chronicle Newspaper Nana Okofroburo expressed the view that selling of the Farmlands to the illegal Miners should not be encouraged in any form, says the illegal Miners destroyed the land forever because after using the piece of land for the illegal mining activities the could not be use for any farming activities which attract hardship to the citizens while endangering their health while most of the lands turned into Waterloo areas and can not do anything profitable.
He also pleaded with the government to reduce the prices of farming chemicals and wedicides to give the farmers who are crying for the reductions of Cocoa Price to also have some sigh of relief to renew their confidence and interest in the farming.
He advised the government never to downplay the effort of Farmers contributions to the national development in any form, be it subsistence farming, large scale farming, Cash crop or foodstuffs, because they are the backbone of the economy.
