NPP Tipped to Win Akwatia By-Election as NDC Faces Internal Divisions

Information gathered from the Akwatia constituency suggests that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is strongly positioned to win the upcoming parliamentary by-election with its popular Candidate Kwame Asumadu over the NDC candidate Benard Bediako

Vox pops conducted in the area indicate that the NPP parliamentary candidate Kwame Asumadu enjoys overwhelming popularity and goodwill among constituents, compared to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate.

The NDC’s chances appear weakened by deep internal divisions following the selection of their parliamentary candidate, Benard Bediako who many grassroots supporters allege bribed his way into securing the position. This has reportedly alienated sections of the party’s base and created voter apathy among its rank and file.

The by-election was triggered by the sudden demise of Ernest Yaw Kumi, the sitting Member of Parliament, creating a highly contested political vacuum in the constituency.

With the NPP seemingly united behind its candidate and the NDC battling disunity, political analysts argue that the governing party may have the upper hand as the polls draw closer.
