US$50 Million Deal, 10% Kickback: Kennedy Agyapong Accuses NDC Officials of Grand Corruption

Former Assin Central Member of Parliament and businessman, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has levelled explosive corruption allegations against officials of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), claiming his wife was offered a lucrative US$50 million contract on condition that she paid a 10 per cent kickback upfront.

According to Mr. Agyapong, unnamed individuals linked to the government approached his wife with the deal but demanded an immediate payment amounting to US$5 million before the contract could be awarded.

Speaking publicly on the matter, the outspoken politician said he instructed his wife to reject the offer outright, insisting that he would not allow his family to become entangled in what he described as a corrupt scheme.

Mr. Agyapong alleged that bribery and corruption within the current administration are worsening and warned that the trend, if left unchecked, could have devastating consequences for Ghana’s economy.

“Corruption is becoming endemic,” he stated, arguing that the country’s development agenda risks being undermined if public contracts are allegedly turned into avenues for personal enrichment.

The former lawmaker’s claims have triggered fresh debate over transparency and accountability in public procurement processes.

However, the allegations remain unverified, and Mr. Agyapong has not publicly presented documentary evidence to support the claims.

As of the time of filing this report, the National Democratic Congress and relevant government officials had not issued any official response to the allegations.

Anti-corruption advocates say the seriousness of the accusations warrants a thorough and independent investigation by state institutions, including the Office of the Special Prosecutor and other relevant law enforcement agencies.

Under Ghanaian law, allegations of bribery and corruption require credible evidence and due process before any findings of wrongdoing can be established.
