Kennedy Agyapong Claims Wife Rejected US$500 Million Contract Over Alleged Bribe Demand

Former Assin Central MP and businessman, Kennedy Agyapong has alleged that some officials of the governing National Democratic Congress attempted to secure a major government contract for his wife in exchange for an upfront payment.

According to Mr. Agyapong, individuals he identified as officials linked to the NDC allegedly approached his wife with an offer involving a contract valued at approximately US$500 million. He claimed the officials demanded a 10 per cent payment of the contract value as a condition for awarding the deal.

Mr. Agyapong said he advised his wife to reject the offer.

The former lawmaker further alleged that corruption within the current administration is worsening and warned that unchecked corrupt practices could negatively affect the country’s economy.

He described corruption within the NDC as “endemic” and called for stronger measures to combat graft.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and no evidence has been publicly presented to support the claims. As of now, the NDC and relevant government authorities have not publicly responded to the accusations.

Under Ghanaian law, allegations of bribery and corruption require thorough investigation by the appropriate state institutions before any conclusions can be drawn.
