Bawumia Reaffirms Commitment to Selfless Leadership

…  “I’m in Politics to Improve Lives, Not Make Money”

Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed that his motivation for joining politics stems from a commitment to serve Ghanaians, not for personal enrichment.

Addressing delegates during his campaign tour of Amenfi West in the Western Region, Dr. Bawumia underscored his track record of transparency and fiscal discipline, citing the Mobile Money Interoperability Project as a prime example of efficient governance.

“I entered politics to serve the people, not to enrich myself,” he stated. “When we initiated the Mobile Money Interoperability project, the NDC had proposed a contract worth $1.2 billion. We cancelled that deal and instead completed the entire project for just $4.5 million — not even up to $5 million. This initiative has greatly benefited Ghanaians and created thousands of jobs.”

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that his satisfaction comes from improving lives, not personal wealth or political power.

“My greatest joy comes from seeing how these projects are transforming lives, not from personal gain. I am not in politics for money — I am here to make a difference in the lives of ordinary Ghanaians,” he added.

The Vice President’s remarks come as he intensifies his campaign for the NPP flagbearership, positioning himself as a leader focused on integrity, innovation, and results-oriented governance.
