Gunmen Kill Three, Injure Two in Binduri Attack Linked to Bawku Conflict

Five people, including a radio presenter, were shot when unidentified gunmen stormed a residence in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region on Sunday night, October 26.

Three of the victims — among them a five-year-old child — died instantly, while two others sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

One of the injured has been identified as George Bukari, manager of Maxx Empire Radio and TV, based in Binduri.

Residents suspect the attack is connected to the protracted Bawku conflict, which has claimed dozens of lives and displaced hundreds since it reignited in November 2021.

In a separate incident, a mentally challenged man was reportedly shot dead by military personnel at Daduri, a suburb of Bawku, on the same day — an event that has further inflamed tensions in the volatile area.

Security authorities have yet to issue an official statement on both incidents.
