Let’s Defend and Protect  NPP’s Brand at all cost –  COKA

News desk report

The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman of the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA) has urged the rank and file of the Party to  be concern with the brand of NPP and work to protect it.

” The NPP is indeed reorganising after a heavy defeat in 2024 . The truth of the matter is that  the Party is in a difficult situation now with many interest group working to dent the image of the Party for parochial interest. Any seasoned politician know that the NPP’s greatest asset is its brand  and therefore any loyal member must work to defend and protect the brand at all costs”.

Speaking to Dess fm in Bekwai in Ashanti Region,  COKA bemoaned the recent attacks of senior party people on social media urging for decency in the way political campaigning is done within the NPP.

” The NPP’s brand was built on integrity,  competence and a commitment to the ideals of the Founding fathers and to the people of Ghana and therefore we must not allow it to be destroyed because one person or an individual wants to lead the Party.”

The former Chairman remarked that the leadership of the party has done a lot of sole searching  to identify what caused the party’s defeat in the last elections  and going forward it hopes to address all the past mistakes.

”  Our research identified apathy as one of the causes of our defeat largely because of lack of patronage and inclusivity.  So for instance, the recent reforms to allow former constituency and regional executives,  former members of Parliament and parliamentary candidates to have a stake in party decision making would help strengthen the party’s internal structure.  This will help bring them onboard with party activities and ensure that we are working together towards a common goal of recapturing political power in 2028″.

He believed that the NPP is a spirit and that in a matter of time the party will overcome its challenges, urging ”   all party people  to behave in a way that will allow the rank and file to work together  to build  a party that is truly responsive to the needs of Ghanaians. “

When pressed about his choice for the party’s 2028 flagbearer race, Odeneho kwaku Appiah maintained strategic ambiguity while demonstrating political savvy. “I will vote for the person who will win the 2028 general elections. I will not disclose it here because I want to be an NPP officer who will be able to call persons who will lose to also come to the region and help our 2028 campaign.”

COKA’s optimism extends to the party’s electoral prospects, with specific focus on recapturing lost seats in the Ashanti Region. “It was sad we lost some seats to National Democratic Congress (NDC) especially, Adansi Asokwa and Akrofuom. We did our research, and we know what happened. I have a plan but won’t discuss it here . I will discuss it with the party people.
