The Vice President of Ghana , Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on August 8, held a meeting with members of the Ghana Armed Forces Council to discuss matters arising from the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals.
The accident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, involved high-ranking government officials and military personnel. The crash took place in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, while the victims were en route to a mining event.
In a statement shared on her Instagram page, the Vice President revealed that the Council, along with other government officials, paid a visit to the family of the late Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, to offer their condolences.
“Following the meeting, the Council and other government officials visited the home of our late colleague, the Minister for Defence, to offer our support to his family during this very difficult time,” she wrote.
She also extended her heartfelt sympathies to the families of all the victims and called for unity and peace during this period of national mourning.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for strength, comfort, and peace during this period of national mourning,” she added.

Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and MP for Tamale Central
Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate
Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu
Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
