Accra, July 7, 2025 — The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has officially commenced the process leading to its much-anticipated 2025 executive elections, according to a statement released by the association’s Election Committee.
In a move aimed at strengthening internal democracy, the Committee announced the full schedule and electoral guidelines, emphasizing that the exercise will be conducted in strict adherence to principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability as laid out in the PRINPAG Constitution.
Nomination and Eligibility
The nomination period for all elective positions opens on Monday, July 14, 2025, and closes on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. All interested candidates who are members in good standing are encouraged to submit their nomination forms within this window.
According to Article 17.0 of the PRINPAG Constitution, only members in good standing as of the opening date of nominations will be eligible to contest. Similarly, only financial members will be permitted to vote in the election. Members with outstanding dues have until July 31, 2025, to settle their accounts to qualify as voters.
Executive Positions Up for Election
Five key executive positions are up for grabs:
- President
- Vice President
- Organizing Secretary
- Public Affairs and External Relations Officer
- Financial Secretary
The roles are pivotal in steering the affairs of the Association, especially in the face of evolving challenges and opportunities within Ghana’s media landscape.
Vetting and Campaigns
All nominated candidates will undergo a mandatory vetting session on Friday, July 25, 2025. The session will be held in person, and the vetting results will be made public on the same day.
The official campaign period is scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 26, 2025, and will continue until election day. The Committee has called on candidates to engage in issue-based, respectful, and professional campaigns.
Voter Register and Petitions
A comprehensive register of eligible voters will be published on Monday, August 4, 2025, giving members ample time to verify their inclusion and raise any concerns.
Petitions relating to the electoral process will be accepted within three days following the declaration of official results. The Election Committee has committed to reviewing and resolving all petitions within 24 hours of receipt. Decisions made by the Committee in this regard shall be final and binding.
A Call to Participate
Speaking on behalf of the Election Committee, Lawyer Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie, the Election Administrator, reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to a credible and peaceful election.
“We are fully committed to upholding the integrity of this electoral process and encourage all members to actively engage while adhering to the rules and timelines,” he said.
The other members of the Election Committee include Desmond Darko, who serves as Deputy Administrator, and Nimatu Yakubu Atuoyese, Secretary.

VETTING OF CANDIDATES
All nominated candidates are required to participate in a physical vetting session scheduled for Friday, July 25, 2025. This is a mandatory requirement to proceed to the ballot.
The vetting results will be published on the same day.
CAMPAIGN PERIOD
The official campaign period will commence on Saturday, July 26, 2025, and continue until election day. Candidates are urged to conduct their campaigns in a professional, respectful, and issue-based manner.
PUBLICATION OF VOTER REGISTER
A comprehensive list of eligible voters will be released on Monday, August 4, 2025.
ELECTION PETITIONS
Petitions regarding the electoral process will be accepted within three (3) days following the announcement of official results.
The Election Committee will review and respond to all petitions within 24 hours. Decisions made by the Committee in this regard shall be final and binding.
