Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was actually the running mate for Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2008, 2012, and 2016 elections three times before victory. He served as Vice President for eight years and became Flagbearer candidate in 2024 again now elected the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
Some argue he was maintained as running mate due to his experience and strong working relationship with the presidential candidate. Others suggest it was to provide regional balance and appeal to specific voter demographics.
