“GOVERNMENT MUST INVEST HEAVILY IN CYBER SECURITY EDUCATION IN ORDER TO PROTECT GHANA’S INTERNET SPACE” – AU SPECIAL ENVOY APPEALS TO GOVERNMENT

The African Union 2026 Assembly Special Envoy Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu, has appealed to government to invest heavily in cyber security education.

According to him, this investment in cyber security education and the implementation of its laws will help protect the country’s internet space from cyber attacks.

He applauded the government for the one million coders program that creates employment but added that training more people especially the youth in cyber security will secure Ghana’s internet boarders against cyber criminals and terrorists.

Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu, made this appeal at the Pan-African Youth For Leadership Summit 2025 at the University of Ghana Legon. The summit was under the theme “Inspiring African Youth For Leadership”.

He said, “We are living in a period when everything is done through the power of the internet which also requires that the internet space must be protected. This can only be achieved if the government prioritizes the training of the youth in cyber security”,

Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu, who doubles as the United Nations Peace Ambassador to Ghana and Country Director for International Association of World Peace Advocate (Ghana), called on the youth to seize every good opportunity that comes their way, adding that the future of the African Continent hinges, largely, on the decisions and actions they take.
