EOCO Cages LPG leader Kofi Akpaloo, Sign of Persecution?

Kofi Akpaloo, presidential candidate and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has been detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), family members said on Wednesday.

Relatives said he was taken from his home in Kumasi, around 11 am though the reasons for his detention were not immediately clear and his whereabouts remain unknown.
EOCO has not issued a statement on the matter.

Akpaloo, who ran in Ghana’s 2024 presidential election, has positioned his party as an alternative voice in national politics, with policies aimed at younger voters. The LPG, while small, has gained visibility in recent years.
