Bawumia Kicks Off Nationwide Tour to Secure NPP Flagbearer Slot

The campaign team for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has officially announced the commencement of a nationwide tour targeting all 276 constituencies, marking the formal start of his bid to be elected as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Flagbearer.

In a statement released today and signed by the Communications Director for the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the campaign disclosed that the ambitious grassroots tour will begin on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The initiative is designed to facilitate direct engagement between Dr. Bawumia and the party’s core base.

According to the release, the Vice President will meet with Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, current and former Constituency Executives, former Members of Parliament, former MMDCEs, as well as Patrons and the Council of Elders. The campaign described this direct approach as a move to “listen, build consensus, and strengthen the Party’s foundation from the ground up.”

Dr. Bawumia, the statement noted, looks forward to sharing his vision and working collectively towards a “resounding victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections.”

A Call for Decorum Amidst Campaign Fervour

The announcement of the campaign tour was coupled with a firm directive from the Bawumia camp, calling for a higher standard of political discourse within the party. The campaign expressed “growing concern” over recent communications that have “devolved into personal insults, unsubstantiated attacks, and the denigration of individuals.”

In a clear effort to distance its operations from such tactics, the campaign issued an unequivocal directive to all its communicators, supporters, and volunteers.

Key among the directives were orders to “immediately cease and desist from any form of direct or indirect insults, derogatory remarks, and personal attacks against any other aspirant, their families, or their supporters.” The campaign also urged its followers to ground all communications in verifiable facts and substantive debate on policies and competence, rather than “sentiment, emotion, or character assassination.”

“We believe in the superiority of Dr. Bawumia’s message and his vision for our party and nation,” the statement read, expressing confidence that a focus on issues would resonate decisively with delegates.

The campaign’s commencement sets the stage for a critical phase in the NPP’s internal elections, with Dr. Bawumia seeking to consolidate his support across the country’s constituencies while advocating for a united and respectful contest.
